Of
all the alterations that I can do, jeans
hemming is my
favorite. I can shorten a pair of jeans and you can barely
tell because the original stone washed hem (gold thread
and all) is reattached to the bottom of the jeans.
How
do I do it? I measure the amount to cut off, do
some secret mathematical calculations, and presto-chango,
jeans! Shorter than before! Jeans hemming is usually $10.
The only situation where I might charge more is if there
is a repair needed as well as hemming. I can also hem dress
pants, usually $10 or $15 if they are lined.
As for other alterations,
let me say up front that I am not a trained alterations
expert. I wouldn’t dare
try to alter a suit jacket or a beaded evening dress. I
could do a non-beaded evening dress if it isn’t too
complicated. And I can alter the hem or waist on suit pants.
If
you have a top that is just a little too loose here or
there, or if your dress is just too long, I can help you.
I don’t usually charge more than $25 to $30
for the most complicated alteration. Anywhere from $6 to
$10 for easy projects. My pricing on these kinds of things
is pretty subjective. I just look at it, think about how
long it might take me to do it and guess from there. |
